Hej Maria och SWEA!

I hope that this message finds you doing well. I am upon the completion of my second quarter here at Lund and it has been a wonderful experience. The programme has been challenging and engaging and I truly feel that I am being shaped into an expert human rights attorney. In my first course, I am happy to report that I passed with distinction! My second quarter exam will not be held until after the holidays. Most recently, we have focused on international humanitarian law, or the laws of war, and have been holding classes in a 'moot court' fasion whereby the class is divided into teams of attorneys. It is exciting and I feel that I've made the best personal choice for myself since this is what interests me. I'm also keeping busy at work for the local NGO, Jus Humanis. We recently held an immigration forum and I had the opportunity to organize my first seminar on human rights for women of the Middle East and North Africa. I was content with the turnout and happy to report that the seminar lasted an extra hour and half because the discussion was so stimulating. Lund itself has been an inspiring place.

I will be returning home to Boston this Thursday for the holidays. Also, I am happy to report that I will be sworn in officially as an attorney and member of the Massachusetts bar during this period! I am looking forward to celebrating with my friends and my family. Also, I am planning on bringing some Swedish recipes back home with me, like lussekater! You will have to let me know if there are any particular grocery stores that carry Swedish ingredients. I know my family will love the saffron buns in particular.

Thank you for your lovely Christmas e-card. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and also to the SWEA Boston family. Please take care and keep in touch.

Warmest wishes,
Anna Maria Martignetti
